Radio shock jock Tom Leykis has found the right formula to make sure he keeps himself bathing in millions – just the perfect amount of guidance, relatable anecdotes for the “average” guy who can’t stand his current relationship but needs help out of it and more than a dash of painting women as whores. Like I’ve said before, I listen. Do I listen all day? No. For all I know someone has called in and blasted my ass on the air for even daring question Tom’s motives. However, his show usually catches me at drive-time home from my JOB by the way. Did I not mention. I do have one. Something that Leykis would probably be surprised about since he believes the average woman is on welfare and just waiting to bait a man with pregnancy in order to be taken care of — something I would jump off a cliff before EVER letting happen. I find myself, no matter how awful some of the things he says, turning up my radio, sometimes laughing my butt off at the idiots who call in and at least once a week agreeing with Leykis — much to my dismay. In fact sometimes it makes me feel dirty when I do.
The reason I’m ranting is that my February post about Tom and the average guy has been gaining some steam lately. The last commenter made sure to lump me in the category of the kind of chick that Leykis talks about which is pretty funny considering a lot of the posts I’ve written here on this blog. But really, I can’t blame him. He obviously just Googled Tom Leykis, found my blog, and neglected to dig deeper. I’ve encountered and despise the kind of woman that fuels this hatred. And it makes me sick that it ruins it for the rest of us. I’m not perfect but I’m sure no one is unless you ask faithful listeners who will say Leykis (or “Dad” as many fans call him) is perfection reincarnated from Jesus. But there are listeners who aren’t necessarily fundamentalists of “Dad.” Make sure to read Shaun’s comment over at the aforementioned post I wrote earlier this year. He makes a very reasonable point about Leykis being the result of the options and lifestyle of today’s male. I specifically like this point:
There is simply little incentive outside of cultural or religious pressures for young men to get married. The single life plays into men’s social and sexual tendencies as well, as males have always been satisfied as rogues in society, perfectly satisfied with mistresses and extra-marital affairs for centuries. In essence, I don’t think that Tom Leykis is an influence on modern male sociology as much as he is an open reflection of it.
That makes perfect sense, unfortunately. The world of today just doesn’t lend itself to a plausible reason for marriage…though I would argue that isn’t just in the case of men but women as well.
But I still have to drive home the point that we can’t lump everyone, even when the exceptions to the “rule” are few and far between. I’m sure there are times I wasn’t the most wonderful in my relationships — quite sure. But one thing I never expected out of them was to be tolerated as I sit on my rear, waiting to be doted over and not lifting a finger to help out in any way. That’s just not how I was brought up and I pride myself on my Independence and ability to look after myself. That said, I AM a woman – but really, I don’t always roar. It has been said that Tom is the original feminist but even I (a real woman last I checked) have my moments of femininity because honestly I do have estrogen after all. Nothing I can do about that. And he makes it quite clear that the overbearing, non-feminine type of woman is to be avoided but the very thing that makes us so feminine can really at times be the very thing Tom shuns. I shutter to think at that conundrum.
I’m just fine in my skin — with or without a guy on my arm. And I think there are many women who feel the same. I just can’t seem to understand why the die-hard listeners can’t just see that Tom is what several people have noted in my February post — an entertainer. But the younger generation that listens to him is where I have often scratched my head. On one hand, I love what Tom tells them because it pretty much means that they will never want to even think about getting married too young or knocking up some less-than-ready-to-be-a-mom teen or being just plain careless. But on the other, those impressionable men are going to grow up hating women, just use them to get laid and then running like hell (or force an abortion) when/if the woman gets pregnant. And while I agree with the madness, I don’t like the method.
Once upon a time, I did the Leykis 101 bit before I even listened or knew who the hell he was. I didn’t go ANYWHERE without my favorite, well let’s just say protection. I got what I wanted, when I wanted it, every time I wanted it but at SOME point, don’t you have to grow up and figure out another way to exist without seeing people as a depository for sexual release and non-emotional attachments? And that doesn’t necessarily mean getting married or starting a family or even being serious with someone all of the time just to feel validated. It just means respecting yourself, and yes, I will say it…respecting others. What a f-ing concept.
Tom and his ilk are sort of like others in radio these days, from the political to the social, to the classless. They are the equivalent in pants what was summed up in a quote from a book by Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
“Well-Behaved Women Seldom Make History”
and therefore, Tom has to be self centered, egotistical, chauvinistic since Rush Limbaugh already has the political corner nailed down.
Nice article. I agree that Tom is a reflection of our society rather than the cause of it. Google “Marriage Strike”. There are great societal forces at play here; what is going on is greater than Tom Leykis. However he is the guy with the cajones big enough to say “wait a minute” publicly and call out what’s going on. For all his big ego and personal shortcomings he is the kid who cried “But the Emperor has no clothes!” in the story that we all know.
The bottom line is that human beings are rational beings; economical decision makers a la Adam Smith’s Invisible Hand. If you make something harmful enough (i.e. marriage) people will stop doing it. In this particular case it’s the men who are finally responding to severe misandrist Family Laws that came into legislation in the 1970s.

Now it’s just morphed into something that rubs the faces of common men into shit, enforces feminist ideology, encourages single-motherhood, taxes the workers to support the lazy and feckless, and as side-project manages to tear the shit out of British culture in the name of diversity. What the fuck happened? All they wanted was power, and what better way to wield power than to sideline men by encouraging their removal from families, and make women subservient to the government by hooking them on benefits and governmental support.
Feminists and their powerful male allies seem to have failed to have taken one thing into account; when someone is made redundant, they don’t work any more. And us men have been declared redundant.
This is what is happening in British Society and, no doubt, in other Feminist infected nations. In Britain there are millions of young men who don’t work, who aren’t in full-time education, who do fuck all, who basically don’t have any interest or motive in contributing to society. And who can blame them? They’ve been declared redundant. They’re not needed. Or, rather, they are needed, but only as wage-slaves to be taxed and, from time to time, as cannon-fodder to be fed to enemy cannons whilst the elite and their ho’s relax. And even many guys (like me) who do work only work the bare minimum, avoid marriage and other traps to transfer what wealth we have to women, and who plot to emigrate. Or just vent our spleens on blogs.
In Britain, a single woman can nip to a sperm clinic, get a sample, get pregnant and then get on welfare, the idea of a father – or a step-father, or any man whatsoever – being part of a family now officially a ’sexist’ idea and one to be rejected. In the workplace, women get priority in promotions and then get to all but choose their hours (usually very few) if/when they have kids. And if a guy works, he’ll be taxed to buggery to pay for hordes of single mothers, effectively forcing him to pay for other men’s offspring.
“Why bother?”, sayeth us men in our almighty multitude. “Fuck this,” we add.
If there’s a war, many men won’t fight to save this country. I fucking won’t. Why bother? Most of us men don’t have any attachment or any investment in what this country has become. Given that you’ll never hear a feminist cry for ‘equality’ when it comes to the draft, why the fuck would any man be willing to get his head blown off to protect some whining, ungrateful, abortion-happy women and the powerful men, all safe at home? Fuck that. We might as well join the invaders and wreck some stuff for laughs.
The gravy train of feminism won’t last long. What women call ‘independence’ requires a hell of a lot of funding; the single-mothers on benefits, the working mothers who barely work at all and consume taxes with their ‘free’ daycare, the Women’s Shelters, the NHS-funded abortions for slags who can’t keep their legs shut, the Ministry of Bloody Women, the endless non-jobs in the female-dominated civil-service…it all needs paying for through taxes. Taxes predominantly paid for by men, who increasingly shrink from the work-force thinking; ‘Why bother?’
Similarly, it is men who do the real-work; refining oil, building buildings, logging trees, laying roads. And fighting wars of course. Rendered redundant, devoid of any incentive or investment in life, many men will stop doing this, and the powerful men and their harem of ‘independent’ wimmin will be left terrified in a society with no proper work-force and dwindling tax-reserves.
And a hell of a lot of seriously annoyed men with nothing to lose.
Maybe that’s a bit of a nihilistic vision. But I can’t see things getting any better, and the one thing that can keep us guys who, individually, have very relatively little or no power in society is that, collectively, we keep it going. So we can make it grind to a halt with very little effort at all.
Karma…I’m going to have to say that this is a very slanted, though very thought-out view. And you are entitled to it. However, are you honestly saying that the world could just go on without women? And I don’t mean because of course women give birth, but do you honestly think America was only built on the backbones of hard-pressed men? What about slavery? Yea. I went there. You went there. Now am. Not all slaves were men of course. And let’s face it, the average white man didn’t want to pick cotton. And even leaving that topic, what about the women who stayed here during the World Wars and kept America going while men went off to war? Were THEY not as important?
I know what you mean, however about the elite. I can’t argue there. And the fact that there are careless men out there who don’t do anything to make this world better. But I don’t feel that because there are women in the world who use their WOMANHOOD to make a point and undermine men, we should put EVERY single woman in that pool.
Why is it that women in general have to be given such a raw deal in your eyes and those of people who share your view? Trust me, there are no-good women who have RUINED, DESTROYED AND MURDERED any chance of women in general being seen in a good light. It makes me sick. And it doesn’t give ME a chance or others like me. I don’t support welfare. I hate the idea of popping out babies just to get some kind of handout. I’m not looking to get pregnant. I know what a condom, BC and whatever crap I need to avoid an unwanted pregnancy. I HAVE NO FUNDING. I’M INDEPENDENT. I’m sitting here sick as a dog and still working my ass off AT HOME after 10 plus hours of work in the office! I am still working. And will STILL be working until midnight or more and without a handout from the government. Funny that I choose to come here for breathing room…

On top of that, do you not know that some Women’s Shelters are for women who are abused by males with mommy issues? Some of those women would like nothing more than to be INDEPENDENT from the man that beat them and work for their children. Some actually do. Some make the wrong decision and stay with their husbands.
But women in those shelters aren’t just looking to milk the system. They just need to get on their feet so they can feed their children. I will say I don’t get why a woman would marry and stay with a man long enough to get beat up but I’m not in their shoes and can’t judge. All I know is the last guy that tried to hit me got a crotch full of my knee. Ooops. Am I being too forward? Too bitchy? I know I’m just a dumb woman who is supposed to stay quiet and agree with you. I mean you didn’t really say that, but if I believed what you did, why the hell would I even have a job?

Like many professions Tom made his money by working hard, long hours improving his talent. Doing whatever it took to be in the right place and networking with those in his profession. Yea not being lazy. This is a big one, not getting taken advantage of in divorce, this helped him build wealth. And when he got knocked down he got back up and kept going. That is why he has millions of dollars. Not so hard to do in America if you are willing to work hard and be smart.
I will admit Tom is a big blow hard in his how much I make department, but he is a shock jock, it’s his job. However he gives very good advice to young men on how to be successful and how important money is to women. From what I see in the real world money is the number one problem in relationships. It is that important.
He point out very common ways guys screw themselves over like smoking pot, f-ing their girlfriend and then dropping out of collage to support her overspending.
He has talked about the benefits of success. That is being highly successful at your profession and making a-lot of money.
The importance in picking professions that offers high income.
Not getting tied down before attaining success, your dream, in your life.
